When my wife and I decided to send our son to piano lessons, we were concerned about the quality of the teacher he would receive. Sure, he was interested in playing, but would the teacher be able to maintain his interest? Would she be able to instill in him an appreciation for music? And above all else, would he develop good study habits that would continue to serve him as he progressed through his high school and college years? This article will cover my experience at WENDELKEN PIANO STUDIO in Asheville, NC, and how I came to know that our son received more than just piano lessons from them.

The Teachers

Honestly, my experience with piano teachers since I was 4 years old has been very hit or miss. The teachers that I’ve had have been either excellent or barely passable, but never anything in between.

How The Classes Work?

When I first saw how much online piano classes cost, I admit I was a little skeptical. There were several other less expensive options out there, so why spend that much money on lessons? After just one lesson, though, it all made sense. Throughout each session, Wendelken and his staff carefully guide students through all of their goals for that particular lesson. All students work to master a different level of piano and must complete their own assignments outside of class time each week.

Class Size and Number of Sessions

This is one of my favorite parts about taking piano lessons online. With online piano classes, it can be impossible to schedule a lesson time without any prior notice. At Wendelken you are able to schedule your own time, learn with another student and have one-on-one personal training, without having to worry about waiting weeks or months for an appointment. One thing I have noticed with my personal experience is that because there are less students, there is more individualized attention given by teachers. It was awesome being able to get on camera during each session and practice as if I were learning from a live instructor!

What Type Of Music Do They Teach?

I have been taking piano lessons with Wendelken and his wonderful staff for three years now, and my experience has been outstanding. They specialize in helping their students learn how to read music, perform live and create new arrangements of existing songs. I take classical piano training as well as pop piano classes here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality learning experience. The staff is very friendly and willing to go above and beyond your expectations!

Student Performance Opportunities

I was recently accepted into WENDELKEN PIANO STUDIO, a piano training program that promises to elevate my piano-playing skills and performance opportunities. One of my goals is to become a well-trained pianist and I feel as though attending Master Piano will greatly assist me in reaching that goal. I decided to enroll after one of their representatives came to our local high school and presented about their program.

Who Should Attend?

Students are required to be at least 15 years old and complete a 100-level beginning course prior to registering for an online piano class. Online classes are held once per week with one hour sessions that accommodate international students. Students must have access to a computer and use standard keyboarding techniques when enrolled in online courses.
