Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination.

Human Rights Day is an important day for all of us. Basic Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that every person should enjoy, regardless of who they are or where they live. Human Rights Day was created in 1950 to promote these values across the globe. Human rights empower people to improve their lives in concrete ways. It means everyone can speak up if something is wrong. Human rights also help keep societies peaceful and stable.

Human Rights help protect people from discrimination [or violations] and to ensure fairness in how we treat one another. Human Rights are a part of our everyday lives: the right to speak freely, to participate in our society, and to get an education; these rights make our lives better by making us freer. Human Rights Day can help us recognize how Human Rights are protected by laws, but we also need to remember that Human rights are just as important outside the classroom or workplace setting; when we interact with other people through social media or in public places.

One way to celebrate this holiday is by educating yourself about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a document which states what these basic rights and freedoms entail.
